statement/cv
I am an artist whose work is rooted in themes related to my individual place in the social sphere. I explore the tensions surrounding female social identity and belonging, performance, and implications of collective memory. I use traditional female-coded totems to examine feminine ideals as dictated by larger, mid-20th century social norms and definitions of good citizenry. Stylistically, my work veers between the realistic and abstract, often delving into dreamlike sphere that allows viewers greater opportunity to process, question, and interpret the material landscape, as well as the message.
